This is a Coptic accordion book. Hand drawing images with matcha are applied on hand made cotton paper. Matcha is one of my favorite teas which has bittersweet taste and scents. Bitterness evokes sweetness not only in taste but also in emotions. The paper is made with under beaten cotton, and has fluffy feeling which helps to creates dreamy atmosphere.

Imbued consists of three parts: a crumpled paper, a piece of paper, and a container, and they are a metaphor of something I would let go of, my wish and myself.

Crown binding. This book express my anxiety under the quarantining for COVID-19.

Flag book using the photos of cherry blossom. I created this book during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan.

ふたつの家 / Two Homes is an artist’s book created as a component and poetic distillation of her thesis project, あるがまま[Arugamama]. Based on the concept home as a safe heaven as well as secure base, Seki represent her memory and feelings for her two homes with two sections: My Home in Japan and My Home in Chicago. Written in both English and Japanese. This book was made possible by generous foundation from The Albert P. Weisman Award.
